Yeah, not understanding that is a consequence of people not reading the source material, because Tolkien definitely explains exactly why the eagles couldn’t do that.
On the other hand, I think it’s a valid criticism of the movies that, for all the amazing things he did in that trilogy, Peter Jackson failed to explain something minor that turned out to be a lingering issue for some segment of the wider audience that would consume that adaptation.
Why is that impossible? Create the post in !reddeadredemption@lemmy.ml, or !gta6@lemmy.ml or !fortnite@lemmy.ml (those are the games OP keeps harping on) or whatever game they’re interested in.
I guess if there’s no existing community, that’s an issue. Create one, then. Post the hyper-specific question into that new community, and then go post an announcement of the community in the broader games communities and let people interested naturally filter in.
I’m not a Lemmy expert by any means, I’m just suggesting ways to engage with people that seems to me like it’d be more constructive and likely to be appreciated. 🤷
I looked at the comments on a few of your posts, and people are telling you exactly why they are annoyed by them.
Your posts come off as low effort spam, almost like you’re treating Lemmy communities like a Discord chat room. Also, you post very similar kinds of things about the same couple of games on the daily, and people probably get tired of seeing samey stuff in their feed.
I’ve noticed that you’re making hyper specific posts (“what do you think about X mission in rdr”) in a general gaming community. Try posting those hyper specific questions in the communities for the actual game you’re asking about, where people who want to nerd out about some random mission are more likely to be.
It’s cool that you’re trying to engage people though, I think you just need to get some more practice at reading the crowd here. Lurk more, maybe. Lemmy isn’t the other site, we don’t necessarily resonate with all the same kinds of content here.
German dubs are actually top notch
I find this ironic when compared to native language German porn, which frequently has audio that is distractingly out of sync to the point that it almost seems like it’s many minutes off. It’s not even just one studio either, it happens to a lot of them for some reason. I’m starting to wonder if there’s an industry joke that I’m not aware of which explains it, but I haven’t noticed the same issue with porn produced in other languages.
Yeah technically you aren’t supposed to ride on the sidewalks here (USA) but there’s barely any safe infrastructure to do otherwise, and I’m sure as hell not going to ride on the street with the death machines honking all over the place, so the sidewalk it is until city infrastructure is less car-brained.
Thank you for providing a non lethal alternative method. I’m uncomfortable with how much death humans gleefully visit upon the insect kingdom when they don’t have to.
That has ketchup in it though, I’m not sure it’s quite in the sprit of the question, though it’s definitely astoundingly popular specifically in Utah.
I haven’t seen anyone mention nutritional yeast yet, but that’s become my go-to seasoning for almost everything; popcorn, pizza, scrambled eggs, bread, ramen, soft pretzels, and of course on fries. So damn good!
(Yes, I realize the name “nutritional yeast” sounds vaguely unpleasant and unappetizing, but I promise it’s incredible if you like savory flavors, and it can also be used as a cheese powder substitute in vegan recipes.)
all of the kids are progressive
I’m not so sure that’s entirely true, there are plenty of angry social regressives among the young too.
requires you to own the original Thief Gold
Happily, that’s no longer the case these days. TDM was originally a mod, but despite keeping the name, it’s now a standalone game using the open-sourced Doom 3 engine. The whole game is currently free without any purchases necessary!
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock is what I think of as an example of turning a good character into a Mary Sue. He’s always pulling things out of his ass that he’s inexplicably been planning all along, or surprise he’s incredible at some random thing that just happens to be crucial at the moment.
Every Sherlock is like that to an extent, but that version was the worst.
Give it a shot again, something changed recently in Proton (I assume) that made Vortex “just work” for me on my Steam Deck. I didn’t even need to do any fiddling, I just ran the installer exe from desktop mode using Lutris and whatever Proton was latest, and it installed perfectly. Vortex now runs entirely as expected, even from game mode.
there will be meaningful change if Trump wins the election
True.
I can also guarantee that voting won’t be enough to prevent that. Hillary won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes in 2016, and still lost the election. When the DNC is determined to lose an election through strategic incompetence, they’ll do it regardless of what we do at the ballot box.
Voting isn’t entirely pointless, and we should do it if we are able, but it isn’t the silver bullet that liberals always pretend it is when they’re haranguing leftists online.
Lots of info here about something to use that always has everything available.
Some great favorites of mine that I haven’t seen mentioned here yet:
The ability to pick a cloud-storage provider to use for automatic 3rd-party game sync. It sucks that I can’t play a non-steam game on my deck and then resume on my desktop or vice versa.
Admittedly it’s a bit of manual tech fiddling involved, but you can accomplish this by using network shares and some careful scripting. For example, I’ve got both my desktop and steamdeck with a launch script configured in Lutris on both. The script symlinks a network share path to the appropriate save game location for each game before running the game. Granted you have to figure out where each game wants it’s save to be stored, but that’s not too difficult once you get used to it.
Fiddly and nerdy for sure, and not for the non technical, but it’s pretty nice, I’ve found! Would be even better if there was some more automated solution though.
It was a revelation at some point in my young life when I realized that CEOs (and any other executive position) are not the highly trained and capable leaders with grand business acumen that I was led to believe they are. Literally anyone can be a CEO for a few dollars and their name on a business registration with the local government, no training or capability is required.
Horrifying in retrospect to realize how many people lionize executives simply for adopting a title.
I haven’t used it much myself, it could be too early in it’s development to be useful, just thought I’d mention it though!
It looks like tabs are supported, but they call them an OptionContainer.
It seems like one sacrifices a lot of customizability for simplicity of code with this toolkit, but that might be fine for some use-cases.
That’s a pretty vague question; what kind of NSFW “stuff” are you looking to post?
However, if you’re talking about art, then Slushe is a fairly nice NSFW art site (though it may be abandoned by it’s creators, last blog activity was over a year ago) that varied artists post plenty of stuff regularly.
