Frostpunk has such weird balance. I found it to be an extremely difficult game until a few core loops clicked. Then it was suddenly completely trivial and I lost interest

I do QA for headsets. My job involves a lot of building and rebuilding various branches so everything I can do to make that easier is great
I had a retail job years back where part of my work was processing incoming freight and putting it in the inventory system. I set up a spreadsheet that helped me format the entries for the actual system. My boss kinda hated it, like “you’re adding extra steps it’s a waste”. Never did convince them it was saving me time and wrist health, had to use it in secret
Another boss I had actively tried to get me to stop using a spreadsheet to track my time and instead update their time tracking system on every task. I could either spend a couple seconds slapping in a spreadsheet entry and have it auto fill in the time spent since the last entry and bulk copy in the day to the time tracking system as part of me leaving for the day, or I could spend a minute fucking with the time tracking system every few minutes of work
At my current job my boss caught wind of me setting up a way to abstract our build system for dedicated types of builds. Instead of trying to get me to stop I was asked to present it to the team and help other people build little tools like it for their own uses. Feels a lot better
I want to know where to get $5 tabs damn
Fam sounds like you need to get out there and make this a reality. $15 is cheap compared to a good memory like this
You’ve never spent hours screaming in pain with your only tether to reality being a pillow that you’re chewing on so you don’t clench your jaw tight enough to chip teeth?
I never stopped my COVID routine so I’m not really doing anything different to prepare but I am at least a little prepared. Going to buy one of those emergency 5-gallon buckets of dehydrated food this time around though, like next time I’m at a bulk food not as shit hits the fan.
I haven’t put much thought into if it is overblown because realistically I’d prefer to see a big fuss over nothing than to see people sit back with a beer while their neighbors die. So I’m not going to treat it like we’re overreacting I’m going to be pretty serious about things.
Obsidian on my local machine, changes get pushed to GitHub, Jenkins pipeline is triggered, I like to use multibranch pipelines with Jenkinsfiles, ObsidianHTML is called and uses a config file in the repo, scp and ssh to send everything to the host server. The order it moves things is a bit specific to try and reduce downtime: New site gets sent to host server with a temp directory name, old directory is renamed, new directory is renamed to be what the old one was, and then the old one is deleted. Getting the build server to actually have the tools installed for ObsidianHTML was kinda a pita had to do a lot of figuring out which versions of Python were supported where and update a lot of stuff without breaking other parts of the build server relying on older Python versions. My build and host servers are two separate droplets with DigitalOcean. ObsidianHTML isn’t being developed anymore so I’d like to replace it with something I make myself one day but I’m not good at web dev in general let alone programmatically building pages
I write a world/setting and host all the notes for it on my own little website. I’m kinda proud of how it is set up: I write things in Obsidian, push changes to a repo, and then a build server picks everything up to turn into a webpage and update the host server. From random thought to website is just a few minutes
People put plates in drawers? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do that ever
Gmail getting the axe would be so bad it would get a section in history books
I think the world could be better without people vocally losing their minds over some harmless fun. Ignore it if you don’t like and move on, or if you’re so wrapped up in being online that you can’t ignore it I suggest you touch grass
They can definitely fit this, and are my preferred town type. I grew up and spent most my life around college towns and they’re pretty great.
To add examples about the nearby metros: Moscow/Pullman on the Idaho/Washington border are college towns in the middle of a large farming community. Never any real need to travel to a city because they’re too far away and the needs of the college keep the town in stock with everything you’d want anyway. Cheney on the other hand is close enough to Spokane that it uses Spokane’s bus system (or used to idk haven’t been there in years). Cheney is lacking a lot of essentials because people just go to Spokane for them.
Moscow/Pullman have tight knit communities while also being open and friendly. You just see so many people from different places coming in through the colleges. College towns are really the best middle ground of small town feel with city convenience I’ve been able to find.
You can just say drug dealer, they had opium
I do qa for headsets so uh… Imagine a painting that moves. Now imagine instead of seeing the world, there was a device that makes you only see those moving paintings. I make sure that device and the paintings work well together.
If anyone knows of any kind of animation technique from that era that would help with the description. But even flip books wouldn’t be invented for like 150 more years so 🤷♀️ Maybe I could find a nice painting and give the person a bunch of mushrooms and be like “this but different”
Idk about other governments but the US seems to be “after the 28th”, so you can drink on March 1st
Unity employee here, idk anything specific about the departments that handle this I wouldn’t even know what their name is. With that caveat, I will say that all the layoffs last year going into this year, changing CEOs, and the competition between big company beurocracy and the dying breath of small company culture, a lot of departments are behaving erratically. I wouldn’t be surprised if nobody internally has a clear answer why this was banned but others aren’t. Some workers may legit be trying to help but their hands are tied for corporate or maybe even legal reasons, it could be people trying to keep their heads down and close tickets quickly to keep metrics up in the hopes they’re less likely to be fired. I think you all know this already but please don’t be too hard on the workers we’re doing what we can but it’s a corporate mess right now
I swear every time my spouse tries to use wd40 I have a stroke. We have several kinds of specific lubes for different situations ffs, all in the same easy to access bin, stop trying to use wd40 as a catch all super lube that’s not how it works.
People don’t send letters much anymore but please don’t lick the envelopes. Just dip a finger in water. Just as easy, less germy, and doesn’t cause a lingering chemical taste.
Nobody seems to understand how to use dental dams. Look it up, stay safe people.
Like a lot of people, Factorio and Satisfactory. Been also playing a bit of Binding of Isaac and DRG. Also watching a friend play Morrowind because I love that game souch
